John B.

A lifelong resident of Winchester, VA, John graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1994.

His passion for cars began as a toddler, riding in his dad’s Pontiac convertible.  He was enamored with how things worked and was known to disassemble anything with an engine throughout his youth.

John’s dad fueled his interests by taking him to car and boat shows.  His dad later built an extra garage in which John could work on cars and other projects.

Some of John’s favorite cars are the 1918 Buick, the 1957 Chevrolet Belair and the 1970 Oldsmobile 442.

Self-taught in all aspects of car restoration and mechanics, John began working in restoration while in college.  Once he graduated, John knew that he had to follow his dream of one day owning his own auto restoration business.

John worked for a few local restoration shops before partnering with a friend to open Vintage Motorcar Company in 2001.   John, who has over 30 years of restoration experience, became the sole proprietor of VMC in January 2018 and continues to spend each day doing what he loves—working around antique cars.

When John isn't at VMC (which is rare!) he enjoys spending time with his family, working on his own hobbies, reading and watching television programs about cars and collectibles.
